Bunraku Trailer

Ohhh boy, this is going to be good. If you didn't hear, there's a film that played at the Toronto Film Fest and at Fantastic Fest that was pretty much either hated (or walked out of) by many, or loved by few. It's another extremely stylistic martial arts spaghetti western, but the best part is that it's over 2 hours long and features Josh Hartnett as "The Drifter" as well as Woody Harrelson as his confidant, The Bartender. We saw it, never reviewed it, but our friends at Quiet Earth just found a promo trailer for the flick and it is damn good. Bunraku is best enjoyed if you are tripping acid, so be prepared for some wacky, weird shit in this. Enjoy!

Watch this (unofficial) promo trailer for Guy Moshe's Bunraku:

Trailer was removed at the request of the film's producers. Sorry guys!

In a world with no guns, a mysterious drifter (Hartnett), a young samurai and a bartender (Harrelson) plot revenge against a ruthless leader (Perlman) and his army of thugs of nine diverse and deadly assassins. This visually stunning film is filled with uniquely choreographed action sequences of a new style that melds east with west and old school with new. Bunraku is written & directed by filmmaker Guy Moshe, of only a film called Holly previously. Yes, there are some cool fights in it, but it's just way too long and way too wacky at times to be enjoyable. I don't think it even has a distributor yet, or if it does, we haven't heard. Thoughts?

Not impressed. Looks like some weird alternative world of Sin City, but with less imagination and bad writers.

It was strange that in the 3d scenes the people looked like cardboard cutouts, then they even folded up in some scenes. I quite liked it, it is more of a motion graphics approach than straight cinema, like an extended music video. I can also see why people would dislike it too.

Yeah that pic looks awesome, thanks for getting my hopes up. I saw Tsukiyaki Western Django and liked it; if that helps.

According to the producer, the trailer that's been going round the internet is an unofficial one that someone made from leaked clips meant for the press. XD It still looks like something that I'll love, though!
