Watch: Official Trailer for John Madden's 'Best Exotic Marigold Hotel'

September 15, 2011

Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

If The Bucket List didn't deliver enough sappy, geriatric drama for your liking, then maybe Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy and Tom Wilkinson can come through in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel from Shakespeare in Love director John Madden. The story follows an entrepreneurial Indian executive who decides to start up a first-rate home for elderly British retirees full of the aforementioned veteran actors. While the film looks like it has charm, the trailer does come off rather cheesy, and it's not exactly thrilling to see Dev Patel in such a caricature type of a role. Anyway, see the trailer below!

Here's the first trailer for John Madden's The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel:

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel tells the story a group of British retirees who decide to "outsource" their retirement to less expensive and seemingly exotic India. Enticed by advertisements for the newly restored Marigold Hotel and bolstered with visions of a life of leisure, they arrive to find the palace a shell of its former self. Though the new environment is less luxurious than imagined, they are forever transformed by their shared experiences. John Madden directs the film from a script Ol Parker based on Pride & Prejudice screenwriter Deborah Moggach's book These Foolish Things. The film hits theaters on March 9th, 2012. Looking good?

whats not to like! sure it is the typical western perception of india... the same slumdog millionaire glorified poor-but-rich-with-life view of india but i still dig the trailer... i only hope they make it more about the characters than about India ( I am an Indian)
