Watch: Superb 6-Minute Behind-the-Scenes of 'The Artist' Featurette
"Moviemaking can be an art form." The Weinstein Company has debuted an outstanding full six minute behind-the-scenes featurette (via Apple) for The Artist, the B&W silent film sweeping Hollywood. One of my favorite films of the year, The Artist (trailer) explores Hollywood's silent era, following an actor on the way out as "talkies" start to take over. The featurette includes interviews with the entire cast, endless clips, and some behind-the-scenes moments in the later half of them dancing their hearts out and shooting scenes (in color!). It's an excellent video that'll hopefully convince a few of you this wonderful film is worth seeing.

Hollywood, 1927. George Valentin is a successful silent movie star. The advent of the talkies will sound the death knell for his career. But for young extra Peppy Miller, it seems the sky's the limit — stardom awaits.
The Artist was conceived and directed by French filmmaker Michel Hazanavicius (interviewed here), of the popular OSS 117 French spy films and Mes amis previously. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this May. In the first major sale of the fest, The Weinstein Company picked up the film for US release. It's already playing in theaters now, released on November 23rd. It's expanding, so check your local listings!
