Trishna Teaser Trailer

Ohh Freida Pinto, she gets me every time. Revolution Films has unveiled a teaser trailer, a rather charming and pleasant non-dialogue teaser, for Michael Winterbottom's Trishna, starring Freida Pinto and Riz Ahmed. The romantic drama is a unique spin on Tess of the D'Urbervilles, set against a contemporary Indian backdrop. Pinto stars as the titular Trishna, a young woman who is seduced by the wealthy son of a property developer. As the romance develops, their relationship becomes increasingly sordid and volatile. It's quite a lovely trailer, beautiful, could describe it, but be warned it's very contemporary Indian. Enjoy!

Freida Pinto stars as the titular Trishna, a young woman who is seduced by the wealthy son of a property developer. As the romance develops, their relationship also becomes increasingly sordid and volatile.

Trishna is written and directed by British auteur Michael Winterbottom, of numerous indie films, including Butterfly Kiss, Wonderland, Code 46, The Road to Guantanamo, A Mighty Heart, The Shock Doctrine, The Killer Inside Me and The Trip most recently. Based on the 1891 novel Tess of the d'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy. Starring Freida Pinto and Riz Ahmed, with original songs by Amit Trivedi and an original score by Shigeru Umebayashi. Premiering at the Toronto Film Festival this fall. Not sure on any US release info yet.

Say what you will about Winterbottom, he takes more risks and has a more varied filmography than pretty much anyone in Hollywood. Dude has directed scifi, comedies, cinema-verite with non-professional actors in Afghansitan, even a goddamn porn. The dude has range like a motherfucker.
