One of the most highly publicized and documented film franchises is without a doubt George Lucas' (sadly ever-changing) Star Wars saga. While the Blu-Ray release of all the films is under fire for even more changes to the original trilogy, die-hard fans can re-visit the glory of the untainted films in the form of a fantastic set of fan-made documentaries starting with Star Wars Begins. Passionate and dedicated fan Jamie Benning has crafted an entire trilogy of documentaries using more than 30 years worth of archival footage and interviews that will surprise even the most educated fan.
Update: It looks like all the videos have been completely removed, sorry! You can visit SlashFilm for updates, and other potential links to view these.
These films really are a labor of love for Benning, and truly a fascinating look into the making of the iconic original trilogy. From the problems during production to the innovative and creative solutions that were employed to get the shots needed, this is one of the best behind-the-scenes documentaries on the Star Wars trilogy to date. And for those thirsty for more like this, Benning is already embarking on a similar documentary for the first installment of the Indiana Jones series called Raiding the Lost Ark. You can check out a preview for that project right here, and we'll let you know when it's completed and online.
