Spielberg & Jackson & Tintin

We're going Tintin crazy! There's been a lot of updates for The Adventures of Tintin recently, and now we have some fun featurettes to watch today courtesy of THR (via Twitch) and HitFix. Both of the videos feature short new interviews with Steven Spielberg, who directed this first movie, and Peter Jackson, who produced it at Weta where the CG was rendered. You'll hear a few of the same stories, but both videos include some great quotes from these two legendary filmmakers in regards to their love for Tintin and his adventure-filled stories. "The medium is not the message here, the characters and story are." Watch below!

Up first is a video from THR which includes interview segments spliced in-between extended clips from the recently released official US Tintin trailer. It's a good watch, but the second one below is a must see as well.

In this second one, not only do we get to see some real behind-the-scenes footage, but part way through they show a bit of Peter Jackson's Captain Haddock test footage that he and Weta first made to originally sell Spielberg on the realism of Snowy, Tintin's dog. They also showed the entire footage at Comic-Con this year.

There have been a lot of updates for The Adventures of Tintin recently, as it's being released in the UK soon and December here. We featured fan-made opening credits and there is a new official poster out there, too.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn is directed by the legendary Steven Spielberg, produced by Peter Jackson with a script co-written by Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish. The cast includes Jamie Bell as Tintin, Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock, Simon Pegg & Nick Frost as Thompson & Thompson, Daniel Craig as the villain Red Rackham, and Toby Jones as Silk. The animated movie, in the works at Weta Digital, will hit US theaters in glorious 3D starting on December 21st, just before Christmas this winter. You can watch the first teaser trailer here or visit the official website for more updates: us.movie.tintin.com.

  • Haha, that's great! Peter's cameo in the test was perfect. I love how they take the subject matter passionately while not taking themselves seriously.

WOW WE get it first - can't wait for next Wednesday! Lots of British talent in here too! Does seem a strange time to release it. December makes more sense.

Just seeing how much passion and thought has been put into this film by both Peter, Steven, and everyone incorporated with the film is incredible. It's great to see that they are focused on their love of the stories and the characters and just want to show that to the audiences now. The wait will be worth it, and I for one am ecstatic about the whole film.
  • As much as I've had a whinge about the way the characters look, seeing Peter Jackson there always makes me smile, Serkis too, they are just so passionate about making films and always pushing things whether I like them or not who cares.

Fun to see these 2 side by side but the film still looks like Polar Express.

I don't agree that it looks like Polar Express. Just look at those faces. It's made with the same technology and by the same crew which made Avatar... it won't be another Zemeckis' mocap failure.

What's with the cameras? They're moving all over the place with no motivation, no reason

first time in a long while that I'm glad I'm Belgian
