Just last week we learned that M. Night Shyamalan's gestating sci-fi project 1,000 A.E. seemed to be going solely by the title After Earth after the filmmaker himself talked about the project on Twitter. Though Heat Vision still refers to the project by the former title, that doesn't change the fact that the film has just gained two more cast members, regardless of the title. Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class) and Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda) will join the father-son duo of Will Smith and The Karate Kid star Jaden Smith in the story of a young boy and his father crash landing on Earth, 1,000 years after humans abandoned it.
The trade details the story even more saying Smith is playing the hero while Jaden plays his son who is considered a failure as a warrior. However, after the crash-landing on Earth, it's up to the son to save his father. Kravitz would play Smith's daughter while Okonedo would play his wife. Likely the two will only appear in the beginning of the film before the father and son crash on Earth. Once again, what makes this project really intriguing is the fact that Shyamalan is working from a script by Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli) and Stephen Gaghan (Traffic). The film is slated to start shooting early next year for a June 2013 release.
