Abbie Cornish

The remake of RoboCop at MGM is coming together pretty damn quickly. Of course, AMC's "The Killing" star Joel Kinnaman has been cast as the title cyborg cop for awhile, but in recent weeks, Gary Oldman has been lined up to play the scientist responsible for bringing police officer Alex Murphy back to life as RoboCop and Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to play Pat Novak, a charismatic TV mogul and a powerful force in the world in which RoboCop is set. Now another cast member has been lined up as Deadline says Abbie Cornish (Sucker Punch, Limitless) will play Murhpy's wife, led to believe her husband is actually dead.

As of now, we're still not sure what kind of villain RoboCop will be dealing with, or anything beyond the plot outside of Murphy being turned into RoboCop. But considering the characters who have been revealed so far, I think it will be drastically different from Paul Verhoeven's original 1987 sci-fi film. Jose Padilha will have quite a high profile title to make his Hollywood debut after putting together some kick-ass action with the Elite Squad franchise. We're not sure how many more pivotal roles need to be filled, but there has to be a villain turning up sooner or later so stay tuned.
