Alex Pettyfer

After going shirtless for dollar bills in Magic Mike, Alex Pettyfer is going from male revues to gritty action. Variety has word that the I Am Number Four and In Time star is in final negotiations to play love interest to Kristen Stewart in the gritty action thriller Cali from The Notebook and Alpha Dog director Nick Cassavetes. We first heard about this project back in May with news that the script came from 30 Minutes or Less scribe Michael Diliberti with a story that follows two lovebirds who sell a fake snuff film and ride off with a bundle of cash. But that's just the beginning Stewart's next turn in a lead action role. More below!

Years after their score and leaving the San Fernando Valley, the girl (Stewart) must come back (figuratively coming back from the dead) to save the younger sister she left behind. Considering I wasn't all that impressed with Stewart's fantasy action chops in Snow White and the Huntsman, I'm not sure setting her in an action thriller in modern times is going to make much of a difference. She's just so meek and tiny that I can't picture her kicking anybody's ass at all. Cassavetes has an interesting amount of variety in his filmmaking career, so maybe he can pull this off. It's not clear just how big Pettyfer's role will be aside from running off with Stewart, but there's a good chance he might see some action too.

I wonder if Kristen slept with this director, too.

I haven't seen "Magic Mike" but Alex was awful in "I Am Number Four." I also don't understand how Kristen Stewart is still getting cast in movies after...well...everything she's done. She can suck the life out of any movie.
