Amy Adams Reuniting with David O. Russell for 'American Bullshit'
After helping the actress land her third Oscar nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her turn in The Fighter, director David O. Russell is reteaming with Amy Adams again. THR has word that Adams has taken a role in the filmmaker's untitled drama formerly known as American Bullshit. This news comes hot on the heels of yesterday's news that Jeremy Renner was replacing Christian Bale on the film that follows a con man who masterminded an FBI sting operation of Congress in 1980. It would've been nice to have an even bigger reunion with cast members of The Fighter, but Renner isn't a bad replacement at all.
Renner would play an FBI agent who teams with the world's best con man (to be played by Bradley Cooper) in order to shine a light on corruption in Congress in a sting operation called Abscam. Adams role is Maxine "Max" Gardner, the mistress and co-conspirator of Cooper's character Weinberg. The Dark Knight Rises producer Charles Roven, along with his Atlas Entertainment cohort Richard Suckle (The International), is producing the film which is also being funded and produced by movie maven Megan Ellison and her Annapurna Pictures, who has been very active in Hollywood lately. It definitely sounds like an award worthy film in the making, but here's hoping it doesn't take Russell years to get it off the ground.
