Amy Adams Starring In & Producing 'An Object of Beauty' Adaptation
Now here's an interesting team-up! THR is reporting that Oscar nominated actress Amy Adams is set to star in and produce an adaptation of comedian/actor/author Steve Martin's novel An Object of Beauty, first published in 2010. Maven Pictures' Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray are producing, along with Adams, who has a lot of other big starring roles in the can already, and is prepping for Trouble With the Curve. "We couldn't be happier to be working with the brilliant Amy Adams on this adaptation of Steve Martin's smart novel," said producers Styler & Rattray. This sounds like it could be good, but no director was chosen yet.
Here's a synopsis from Amazon for the novel, that follows fifteen years of a young art entrepreneur's life.
Lacey Yeager is young, captivating, and ambitious enough to take the NYC art world by storm. Groomed at Sotheby's and hungry to keep climbing the social and career ladders put before her, Lacey charms men and women, old and young, rich and even richer with her magnetic charisma and liveliness. Her ascension to the highest tiers of the city parallel the soaring heights--and, at times, the dark lows--of the art world and the country from the late 1990s through today.
While Adams is starring and producing, there's no writer or director named for this yet, but hopefully they get someone set soon. Maven Pictures is currently finishing up Kristen Wiig's comedy Imogene, with other projects in the works in addition to An Object of Beauty. "This project continues on Maven's mission of making films that highlight strong female characters and talent." An Object of Beauty follows an art entrepreneur through 15 years of her life, as she acquires her own gallery, travels the world and tangles romantically with a series of men, including one who becomes a famous artist. Since this is only in early development, you can grab a copy of the novel while we wait for it to come together. We'll keep you updated.
