'Bad Teacher' Director Teaming with Jason Segel for 'Sex Tape' Now
Last fall, good news came in the form of a new romantic comedy from Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller and the film's star Jason Segel in the form of Sex Tape, the story of a husband and wife who take a night off from the kids and decide to spice things up by making a sex tape. When they wake up the next morning, the tape is missing, and the search is on. However, now THR has news that Stoller's deal was never finalized, and now Bad Teacher director Jake Kasdan will be reteaming with Segel instead as director of the film. Stoller is likely busy working on The Muppets sequel, which Jason Segel is not doing.
Though Bad Teacher was hilarious, it could've easily used more Jason Segel, so this project sounds like just what the doctor ordered. As for a female lead, when the story first broke, Reese Witherspoon was the desired actress, but now it sounds like Bad Teacher star Cameron Diaz is also in the mix. Personally, I'd rather seem Segel mesh with someone he hasn't yet worked with before on the big screen rather than bringing Diaz back for another round. Maybe someone can get Emma Stone on the phone? I don't know what I would do that if that came to fruition. Though she might be a tad young for Segel. Stay tuned.
