Beyoncé, Jason Sudeikis, Aziz Ansari & More Lending Voices to 'Epic'

For one reason or another, apparently we missed the news that Fox was working on an adaptation of William Joyce's children's book The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs, about a troop of tiny doodle bugs try to take on the evil Spider Queen to save an elderly woman's garden and call on the Leaf Men to help. The film is now titled Epic, and as part of Fox's press release of tentpole films hitting in 2013 and 2014, the animated adaptation was given a release of May 24h, 2013, and a voice cast including Beyoncé Knowles, Josh Hutcherson, Amanda Seyfried, Johnny Knoxville, Aziz Ansari and even more!
Jason Sudeikis, Steven Tyler, Blake Anderson and Judah Friedlander also round out the cast of the film which also includes something about a long lost toy, but since I haven't read the book, and don't have any children at my disposal to tell me about it, I have no idea what that could mean. Either way, this voice cast sounds fun (especially with names like Ansari, Sudeikis and "Workaholics" writer and star Blake Anderson involved), and Ice Age and Robots director Chris Wedge (who is also the voice of the prehistoric squirrel Scrat) is behind the adaptation, so this should be something fun for the families. We haven't had a straight-up insect adventure since the battle of computer animated ants in A Bug's Life and Antz about 15 years ago, so maybe we're overdue for a tiny epic adventure literally on the ground floor.
