'Blair Witch' Director Back to Found Footage with Bigfoot Film 'Exists'
Though the most recent craze of found footage launched with the success of Paranormal Activity in 2009, before that Cloverfield was a big deal, but way back in the 90's, it was The Blair Witch Project that beat them all to the punch with one of the most successful viral marketing campaigns to ever hit audiences, even before the internet was as commonplace as it is today. Now that film's director Eduardo Sanchez is heading back to found footage as Variety reports he will be at the helm of Exists, a film that follows a group of friends traveling in remote Texas woods for a weekend of fun and are stalked and hunted by Bigfoot. No!
Relatively unknown actors Dora Madison Burge, Samuel Davis, Roger Edwards, Chris Osborn and Denise Williamson all star in the film which starts production next week in Texas. In addition, creature actor Brian Steele, who has been in films like Hellboy and the sequel The Golden Army, not to mention playing a T-600 Terminator in Terminator Salvation, a couple predators in Preadators and the well-endowed Minotaur from Your Highness, will play the infamous Sasquatch. It's surprising that a film like that hasn't been attempted until now as the one famous video of the supposed creature just has found footage written all over it. Count me at least interested for now, and we'll keep you updated on the film.
