Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem & Angelina Jolie Listening to 'The Counselor'
The release of the Prometheus is just a couple months away, but director Ridley Scott is already making moves on his next project. We already know that Michael Fassbender has been set to reunite with Scott for The Counselor, the story of a respected lawyer who thinks he can dip a toe in to the drug business without getting stuck in the seedy underbelly. Some big names have been mentioned to be circling the project, but now Deadline finally has more solid word that Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem and Angelina Jolie are all in talks to join the film that is looking to start shooting in late June, shortly after Prometheus hits theaters.
The project is coming together rather quickly with Fox in talks to distribute the film likely for release sometime in 2013. It's interesting that Bardem has gotten involved with the film as the script comes from author Cormac McCarthy, his first spec script as a screenwriter, and the project has been described as No Country for Old Men (which was based on the same book written by McCarthy) on steroids. This will be the first film since Mr. and Mrs. Smith that will have the now married couple of Jolie and Pitt on the big screen, so that's sure to bring in the audience. Throw that along with the fact that Scott is behind the camera with Fassbender in the lead, and we've got the makings of a fantastic film here. Stay tuned.
