Christina Applegate Confirmed for 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues'

The core of the Channel 4 News Team is already confirmed to return for Anchorman: The Legend Continues with Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner all reprising their roles. But what about some of the other supporting cast members? Well, when McKay talked about how the sequel finally got a greenlight from Paramount he mentioned that they were working on something to allow Christina Applegate to return as Veronica Corningstone. Now E! Online has word from Koechner (promoting Piranhaa 3DD) that Applegate is definitely coming back and Celebuzz (via The Playlist) has confirmed it.

Very few plot details are known as the script is still being written, but McKay has talked about the film dealing with the dawn of the 24-hour news cycle and something involving a "custody battle" and "bowing for dollars." Might Ron Burgundy and Veronica Corningstone be getting a divorce? It would make sense as Applegate might be too busy with the second season of "Up All Night" to allow for a bigger part of the film. Either way, her chemistry with Ferrell is great, and she holds her own against these comedy heavyweights very well. Production begins in February and we'll see the film hit towards the end of 2013.
