Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys

Plenty of fan films based around the Star Wars universe have been made from Jamie Benning's collection of documentaries chronicling the making of each film in the original trilogy to fans love/hate relationship with creator George Lucas in the aptly titled The People vs. George Lucas. But a new documentary looks at one of the cash cow part of the trilogy that keep putting more cash into the pockets of Mr. Lucas. Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys takes a closer look at the action figures, vehicles, playsets and more that have been a part of fans' live since 1978 and every year since then. Watch a quick teaser below!

Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars, from director Brian Stillman, explores the groundbreaking and breathtaking world of Star Wars toys. Through interviews with former Kenner toy company employees, experts, authors, and collectors, the film examines the toys' history, their influence on pop culture, and the fond and fervent feelings they elicit today. The film has a Kickstarter page to keep the project funded (they've already met their fundraising goal, but with more they can obviously better market the release of the DVD sometime this August), and you can find plenty more information on the film there too.

We're not "grown man babies". We're smart geeks who kept the toys and now an investment $$$.
    • That's the saddest comment I ever read.

Definately takes me back.  It's an interesting concept because I've seen guys who've collected this sort of stuff and now sell it for a living at a premium and make good money.
