Now that the new take on the classic monster movie Frankenstein is in the hands of Lucky Number Slevin helmer Paul McGuigan, after Shawn Levy was seemingly too busy to commit, the cast is starting to shape up. While no official deals are in place and no offers are out, The Wrap has word that Daniel Radcliffe is very interested in taking the lead role of Hunchback in the project that is being called a revisionist take on the classic tale. I would think the Hunchback character would be that of Igor, so maybe this tale is taking the perspective of the assistant to Dr. Frankenstein as he embarks on his infamous experiment? More below!
The character is described as "pathologically dirty and dressed in old clowns clothing," and that sounds like quite an interesting role for Radcliffe. Of course, he's taking on the role of Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings and a guy who sprouts horns and has to find his girlfriend's murderer, so he'll be doing some interesting work between now and then. Either way, it's too early to think this is a done deal. The studio is waiting for a finalized script before serious talks with the actors will begin. That task falls to Chronicle writer Max Landis, giving a sci-fi spin to the Frankenstein tale. Stay tuned as this project develops.
