After the success of Horrible Bosses last year, director Seth Gordon already has a sequel to the film starring Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis and Jason Bateman lined up sometime down the road. However, the filmmaker will work with the latter of the comedic trio yet again as Deadline reports Gordon will be at the helm of Identity Theft, a new comedy that will feature Bateman starring opposite Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy. We first heard about the project last summer, and it was reported that the script was actually completely retooled to allow for McCarthy to strut her stuff as a comedic leading lady. Read on!
Originally, the film followed a guy who gets his identity stolen by another man, but now it will be McCarthy stealing Bateman's identity. As a matter of fact, it was The Change-Up star who actually decided that the script needed to be changed so that McCarthy could star in the film after he saw her hilarious performance in Bridesmaids. Bateman is also producing the film which has a script from The Pursuit of Happyness writer Steve Conrad and rewrites from The Hangover Part II scribe Craig Mazin. If all goes to plan, McCarthy should shoot the film after finishing production on this season of "Mike & Molly" in April.
