Don't Watch: A New 'Jackass' Inspired Trailer for 'The Three Stooges'
While audiences shouldn't be expecting anything but stupid slapstick humor from the long gestating big screen take on The Three Stooges from Bobby and Peter Farrelly, the once great comedic minds behind Dumb & Dumber and There's Something About Mary, there's just something that doesn't feel right about the flick. The teaser didn't impress us, and now a new trailer, taking cues from those modern day stooges from Jackass doesn't change our minds. It just seems like this has missed the boat as the face of comedy has changed dramatically. Prat falls and hard hits are funny, but in the age of YouTube, only if they are real.
Here's the second official trailer for Bobby & Peter Farrelly's The Three Stooges, originally from Yahoo:
The Three Stooges is written & directed by filmmaking brothers Bobby & Peter Farrelly, of the comedies including Dumb & Dumber, Kingpin, There's Something About Mary, Shallow Hal, The Heartbreak Kid and Hall Pass. Inspired by the original "Three Stooges" shorts from the 1930s, the storyline will follow the trio from when they're orphans and into adulthood. The film will be divided into three half-hour shorts, and the Stooges will get mixed up in plots involving murder and a reality show. In addition to Diamantopoulos, Hayes and Sasso, the supporting cast includes Jane Lynch, Larry David, Sofía Vergara, Jennifer Hudson and Stephen Collins. Fox is bringing the new Three Stooges to theaters everywhere April 13th, 2012. Anyone?

You clearly haven't seen The Only Way is Essex yet.

The bad sound effects killed this for me.. Dodgeball showed pain is still very entertaining, this is Looney Tunes without being funny

kudos to these guys for getting their characters down to a t, but the potential stinky egg here sits on the directors chair, why would this be a good idea? pick me, i Know the answer! "It wouldn't".

Can't tell if trolling.

While I don't think this movie will likely pull off what it intends to, I don't find this any less funny than actual Three Stooges shorts. I think it's true that comedy is way different now than it was and audiences require more to keep them amused. I don't think this looks hilarious but it could be interesting to see how it works out. Maybe it could be okay, who knows?

By the time I watched the original Three Stooges I was nearly a teenager, so I though they were pretty idiotic then, this is like like giving a baby a machine gun dumb. If I wanted to watched a bunch of oversized men beat each other like buffoons I could go to my local pub. Everyone thinks this is silly right? Not a good idea?

I was laughing the whole time! This is classic stooge physical comedy at its finest! Looking forward to seeing it 🙂
Keepitreal123 on Mar 21, 2012
It's sad that the world doesn'tlaugh at this type of comedy any more. But it's true, it's just not funny anymore.
Carl Manson on Mar 21, 2012
Truth be told this is actually a pretty faithful looking take on the stooges. It's not that it's bad exactly, it's just that kind of humor doesn't resonate with modern audiences anymore.

Excellent casting of the Stooges, alright everything else
Alleycat4444 on Mar 21, 2012
Hmmm...this or Russian Roulette? Yeah, Russian Roulette.
Will on Mar 21, 2012
I thought it was hilarious! Especially the lobster scene. I know it's sad most people here don't find it funny. But this is the kind of comedy that's outrageous and slapstick. And we're so used to 'American Pie' or 'Hangover' comedy. I'm not expecting this to be a hit anyway.

I'm actually going to pay to see this. It looks awful.... So bad. Must watch. lol think of it this way, would you pay to see Battleship or this? Seriously... THIS WINS

Anyone who fork out money for this rubbish should be tombstoned. What a load of kak.

Clearly when you put don't watch in the article title, people will come to watch. lol 😛
Chris Amaya on Mar 21, 2012
I don't think a word exists yet for how awful that looks (and sounds).
turbolax on Mar 22, 2012
If this was released as something new today..everyone would hate it. People will most likely only see it if they were fans back during the old shows
Wesls31 on Mar 22, 2012
I don't know, I though I would hate it, but it's just standard Three Stooges comedy in an updated setting and honestly I can dig it. I'm not saying it's gonna be a hit, but they're hitting each other over and over again in semi-creative ways, and that's all you can really ask for. You guys all must be pretty cynical if you were expecting any different.

it made me laugh. especially the bell hitting the nurse on the head and the lobster bit. seriously. i watched it twice.
Ictimerlsf on Mar 22, 2012
*nun. not nurse. though either one wouldve been funny. but nun is funnier
Ictimerlsf on Mar 22, 2012
Good God it's like if Jerry Mouse, Spike the Dog and Tom Cat came to life! Count me in! Love me some good old fashioned slapstic humour.
Droopy on Mar 22, 2012
I honestly don't give a shit what most people here think about this movie. I for one will be watching it with complete pride, and mostly as a token of my appreciation to Moe, Larry, Curly, Shemp and Joe for making me laugh ever since I was a little kid who was just beginning to learn what physical comedy was. I'll agree that if the movie were to be set in the golden era, it might appeal to a bigger crowd, but give this a chance, have a few laughs and enjoy the movie for what it represents, and that is the classic, one of a kind Three Stooges.

bury this in an unmarked grave & then kill all the diggers so the secret remains safe...
kingrootintootin on Mar 23, 2012
This looks terrific....if you like the Three Stooges. It looks well made and, as a Stooge fan I think the impersonations are spot on.....from what I've seen so far. This film will open doors for a whole new generation who will appreciate old time slapstick. If you think that you're to "cool for the room,"......or that this stuff is low-brow and beneath you...don't go see it. What's boring and NOT funny, is posing existential questions and posts as "Why was this made?"........To quote Moe: "Spread out!"
CrockettLives on Mar 25, 2012
Slapstick was terrific in it's day. Sad that the only humor kids know today is American Pie nonsense (private parts in a pie is just HYSTERICAL....pleeeease), fart jokes, reality show train wrecks or some other bodily group function. The Stooges in their day were genius. What do I know, someone will either make American Pie 12 or a movie about midgets chasing fat people, or some idiot hurling himself across a football field and some will think that's funny.
DWSHIMODA on Mar 25, 2012
Idk... the movie does look terrible, but they are absolutely perfect with their Impersonations. It doesn't look like anything too different from the actual Stooge shorts, and I loved them. But while they're nearly perfect in their mimicry of the stooges, they aren't them. And it just seems so off. However, that sequence at 50 seconds was perfect.
