Last year Edward James Olmos took on an evil role in Showtime's serial killer drama "Dexter", and it sounds like he had some fun as the bad guy as Variety reports the actor is taking the villain role in Contraband director Baltasar Kormakur's adaptation of 2 Guns, the graphic novel written by Steven Grant. The film follows Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington as a Navy SEAL and a DEA agent, respectively, who work together despite not knowing each is undercover. When the duo unknowingly steal millions from the CIA for the mob, they discover double-crossing associates who will do anything to retrieve the money.
Paula Patton also stars in the film as another DEA agent who is also Washington's love interest. Meanwhile, Bill Paxton recently joined the film as a high ranking CIA operative. Olmos is playing Papi Greco, a dangerous Mexican druglord who creates problems for our two undercover heroes. This is quite an interesting cast, but I'm not as keen on the talent behind the camera since Contraband wasn't anything to write home about. Hopefully with Steven Grant's graphic novel providing the source material for the story, there's a solid action thriller here for Wahlberg and Washington to knock out of the park.
