Emma Watson Lands Love Interest Role in Darren Aronofksy's 'Noah'
The two offspring of the man tasked with building an ark were just revealed to be played by Logan Lerman and Douglas Booth in Darren Aronofsky's Biblical epic Noah. Booth will play the younger son Shem while Lerman (who we just caught in the promising trailer for The Perks of Being a Wallflower) is playing the elder sibling Ham. At the time, there was still a role open for the love interest of Noah's son Shem, but we thought that role would go to Saoirse Ronan, who was mentioned to be taking a role in the film not too long ago. Now Deadline says Harry Potter star Emma Watson is currently in talks to take the part in question.
That means she'll be cavorting with Booth rather than Lerman, with whom she shares the screen in the adaptation of The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It would interesting to see the two move from being infinite in the Stephen Chbosky film to being lovers in this epic, but it sounds like they'll just end up on screen together again without any romance between them. We're not sure if this means Ronan is out, or if there's another role she might take. Meanwhile, Jennifer Connelly is still in the running to play Noah's wife (reuniting her with Russell Crowe and Aronofsky) and the ark builder's nemesis must be cast. This is quite an interesting assembly of talent, and with Aronofsky at the helm, you know it will be visually stunning.
