Lawless

When the law became corrupt, outlaws became heroes. Since we posted the most recent unapproved Shia LaBeouf silhouette poster for John Hillcoat's Lawless, I only thought it necessary to also feature this, the final poster debuted by HitFix. Lawless does indeed star Shia LaBeouf, but he's only 1/3 of it, as the bootlegging Bondurant Brothers are made up of Tom Hardy, Jason Clarke + LaBeouf. They also added the lovely and talented Jessica Chastain to the layout, deservingly so, at the least because she bravely goes fully nude in it. For other reasons as well (my Cannes review), I do suggest catching this flick when it opens.

Lawless Final Poster

John Hillcoat (The Road, The Proposition) is directing Lawless from a screenplay by Nick Cave which is based on Matt Bondurant's novel The Wettest County in the World. The film follows a bootlegging gang (Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Jason Clarke) in Depression-era Franklin County, Virginia, threatened by authorities who want a cut of their profits. Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, Guy Pearce, Noah Taylor and up-and-comer Dane DeHaan (from Chronicle) also appear in this. The Weinstein Company first premiered the film at the Cannes Film Festival and will be releasing Lawless starting on August 29th.

  • Still feels amateurish... and fairly poorly put together.... but it's LEAGUES better than those godawful character one-sheets. Those were ****ing garbage.
    • As for the film itself.... I love all of John Hillcoat's work... and I've been super excited about this since it was announced.
