Welcome to the Punch Trailer

"Max is an inch away from piecing all this together." Hell yes, it's time to take a look at a James McAvoy vs Mark Strong showdown! This film is Welcome to the Punch and stars both McAvoy and Strong. McAvoy plays Max, a detective who gets one last shot to take down "the man he's always been after" when Sternwood, Strong, returns to London. I wasn't sure what to expect at first, as it's from an up-and-coming director named Eran Creevy, but damn does it look like a badass sleek action-thriller. A little bit of Bourne, a bit of Smokin' Aces even, and some dark blue London cinematography top it all off. Check this out below.

Here's the first official UK trailer for Eran Creevy's Welcome to the Punch, originally from The Sun:

Eran Creevy's Welcome to the Punch tells the story of a former criminal, Jacob Sternwood (Mark Strong) who is forced to return to London from his Icelandic hideaway when his son is involved in a heist gone wrong. This gives detective Max Lewinsky (James McAvoy) one last chance to catch the man he has always been after. As they face off, they uncover a deeper conspiracy they both need to solve in order to survive.

Welcome to the Punch is written & directed by BAFTA nominated English filmmaker Eran Creevy, of a 2008 film called Shifty previously. This was produced by Worldview Entertainment, Between The Eyes, Scott Free and Automatik Entertainment, and will arrive in US theaters on March 15th, 2013 next year. Look good?

NOOOO! Alex, this looks amazing, but they ruined the movie by showing you that Mark Strong's character saves Mcavoy in the bar. I imagine if I saw that in theaters before seeing this, I would have loved that twist. Dang shame. Still looks great though.

Agreed! Why would they show us that small spoiler in the trailer, I hate that.
      • I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out here.

This looks cool, I'm in.. Was that the Governor from Walking Dead ? James McAvoy looks more and more like Russel Crowe, he could easily play Crowe's younger version in a Looper like movie. What song/band is that playing in the background, cool song !!
    • Tester
For anyone interested, the song is The Wolf from Fever Ray, song originally from the Red Riding Hood soundtrack... very cool song in my opinion

Nice I was going to ask about the song too. Thanks for the info.

00:16, now tell me that ain't supposed to be Hitman himself?!!!!
    • Seriously, I thought so too! He would make one hell of a gritty Hitman!
    • grimjob
I actually thought it was Stanley Tucci for a second, which would be a welcome addition.
  • Not a great trailer, but I'll still keep an out for this movie because of Mark Strong. I'm at least glad it's not another Jason Statham movie.

Finally! I think McAvoy lived under a rock since summer 2011. People ought to give him a bit more credit. He's so underrated. I don't think it's spoilerish, the synopsis gives it away... And it can't be too terrible, I doubt all these great British actors would get together to do a horribly bad movie. *fingers crossed*
  • The Sun promoting movie trailers? Nooooooo. Looks like a nicely graded dark blue film. Yoooo SlaaaaaaaaaaaaG
