Sleepwalk with Me

Plenty of comedians take the route of playing struggling stand-up comedians in their TV series or feature film debut but with mixed results. Thankfully the debut of comedian Mike Birbiglia as a director with his Sundance selected indie Sleepwalk with Me brings enough laughs, charm and heart to qualify as a success (read my review from Sundance). Based on his one-man show and book, the film follows Birbiglia essentially playing a version of himself as an up and coming comedian dealing with a hilariously dangerous sleepwaking affliction. Now the first trailer for the Audience Award winner is here, and it's great. Watch it!

Here's the first trailer for Mike Birbiglia's Sleepwalk with Me, originally from Apple:

Mike Birbiglia writes, co-directs and stars in Sleepwalk with Me, based on the comedian-turned-playwright-turned-filmmaker's own one-man show and book of the same name. Birbiglia plays a burgeoning stand-up comedian struggling with the stress of a stalled career, a stale relationship threatening to race out of his control, and the wild spurts of severe sleepwalking he is desperate to ignore. Produced and co-written by Ira Glass (NPR’s “This American Life”) the film also stars Lauren Ambrose, Carol Kane, James Rebhorn and plenty of other great stand-up comedians. The film hits limited theaters on August 24th. Interested?

Looks great! I was confused at first cause it started off looking like a documentary. But i'm loving that dude's comedic style.
  • hehehehe. Life is stupid
  • Did I see the guy from Punching The Clown for a quick second? I loved that movie. This looks great.

I've listened to Birbiglia forever on This American Life, never seen his face. Seemed odd to watch this 'stranger' deliver his lines. By the end of the trailer I'm in. Can't wait to see this.
