Gavin Hood's Sci-Fi 'Ender's Game' Production Tumblr Blog Launches

March 21, 2012

Ender's Game

Briefly: A brand new production blog has launched at for the upcoming sci-fi adaptation Ender's Game, written & directed by Gavin Hood. They've already started filming down in New Orleans, and Summit has set a March 15th, 2013 release date (one year away). The first post on the Tumblr blog shows a photo of Ender's chair, for Asa Butterfield, and explains: "It took us all a second to realize Asa was right when he said Ender's Game was an amazing book from 'the late 1900s'… Watching Asa bring a character to life who has been on our minds since our youth, we realize things happen for a reason. We were waiting for him." Awesome. I'm a big sci-fi nerd and I'm very excited to follow this movie.

  • didnt know Gavin Hood was directed.  Im disappointed
  • Hey - let's give him a chance. I mean, Gary Ross didn't direct anything 'spectacular' before Hunger Games, and that's getting pretty good reviews. The casting seems to be excellent, and that's half the battle sometimes.

WHAT?? Seabiscuit and Pleasantville combined got 10 oscar nominations
      • I meant spectacular as in "spectacle". I mean Ross didn't direct anything action oriented before the Hunger Games. Not that the movies you mentioned weren't good in their own right.

Great book.  No idea how good of a movie can be made of it.  But if it introduces more readers to the book, that's a good thing.

Is this the guy that brought us Wolverine? That was GARBAGE! Safe to say I won't be seeing his take on Ender's Game.
  • The end of that post gave me chills, to be quite honest. I've been waiting for this movie for years. :)
