Hugh Laurie Playing the Villainous CEO of Omni Corp in 'RoboCop'
Now that the medical drama series "House M.D." is finally finished, it's time for Hugh Laurie to dive into different projects, and one of his first following the end of the series is a damn good choice. For years I've wanted to see Laurie take on some kind of bad guy role, and my dreams are coming true as Variety report the British actor is taking the villainous role of the cold, sarcastic CEO of Omni Corp, the company responsible for creating the cyborg cop after police officer Alex Murphy (played by "The Killing" star Joel Kinnaman) is killed in action but resurrected as RoboCop. Will he channel Dr. Gregory House for the role?
If the character is American, fans of the medical drama will likely recognize his cold, sarcastic attitude from the small screen, but taking that personality and injecting it into a character who is really a bad guy and not just an ass makes all the difference. Laurie sweetens an already great cast that includes Gary Oldman as the scientist who creates RoboCop, Samuel L. Jackson as some sort of TV mogul, and Abbie Cornish as the wife of Officer Murphy, who has no idea that he's being resurrected as a cyborg cop. Jose Padilha is directing the new origin story, and it's one hell of a way to make his English language debut.
