Indie Trailer Sunday: Red Band for Juliette Binoche Sex Drama 'Elles'
"We're all alone, aren't we?" Today's featured indie trailer, found on Vulture, hat tip via The Film Stage, is for a French-Polish film called Elles directed by Malgorzata Szumowska, about a woman working for the French edition of ELLE magazine researching an article about young female students who are turning to prostitution. The film stars Juliette Binoche as the older woman doing the investigating, as well as Anaïs Demoustier and Joanna Kulig. The trailer is red band with plenty of sex throughout, so it's NSFW, but best to watch in the evening if you can, it's a great trailer anyway posing some very interesting questions.
An investigation of young female students turning to prostitution in order to fund their university studies.
Elles is written and directed by award winning Polish filmmaker Malgorzata Szumowska, daughter of legendary journalist Maciej Szumowski, of the films Happy Man, Stranger, Father and 33 Scenes from Life previously. Kino Lorber will be opening Elles in very limited (NY/LA) theaters starting April 27th. The film has a C+ avg on criticWire. Anyone interested?
