Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde Looking to Get a Little 'Relanxious'
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, David Arquette and Courtney Cox, Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor are all real-life couples who have played couples on the big screen as well. Now that club gains two more members as Deadline has word that Olivia Wilde and "Saturday Night Live" star Jason Sudeikis (who are supposedly, currently dating) will star in Relanxious, a relationship comedy that will also feature Fred Armisen (another "SNL" cast member) and Brie Larson (Rampart). The film is described as a relationship comedy that will mark the directorial debut of relatively unknown writer Christopher Storer.
In the film, Wilde will play Barrett, an anxiety plagued woman who falls for George, an agoraphobic (afraid of the outdoors) man played by Sudeikis. Because of their ailments, they relationship doesn't go beyond talking on the phone (how does that manifest itself anyway?) and talking about the dates they would go on if they weren't each holed up in their apartments. But is the fantasy strong enough to get them each out of their safety bubbles and find a real love? We don't know (but we probably do), but Larson will play Wilde's sister while Armisen will play Sudeikis' friend and only window to the outside world.
Wilde has kept herself busy over the past couple years with Tron Legacy, Cowboys & Aliens and In Time, but she's also found room for comedies like The Change-Up, Butter, Burt Wonderstone and now this. She's got quite a talent in both arenas, and I hope she keeps her feet firmly planted in both. Meanwhile, Sudeikis has had a surprising number of film roles despite his dedication to "Saturday Night Live." I'm wondering if there's a chance he might leave the show after this season as his film career is going rather smoothly, and in original comedies like Horrible Bosses (and the forthcoming sequel), no less. We'll see what happens.
