After the teaser trailer showed up with The Dictator this past summer, we've been waiting for some more solid news on the production of Anchorman: The Legend Continues. Adam McKay has talked about the story focusing on the dawn of 24-hour cable news and most recently revealed that the film will have some musical numbers. Now a new cast member comes in an update from The Wrap who says "Saturday Night Live" alum and Bridesmaids writer and star Kristen Wiig is being lined up to play a love interest for Steve Carell's dimwitted character Brick Tamland. It sounds like he'll be loving more than lamp this time.
However, there are no other details on Wiig's character at this point. Interestingly enough though, it sounds like we have a release window for the sequel as The Wrap has pegged Anchorman: The Legend Continues to hit theaters in October of 2013. That seems like an awfully fast turnaround considering the film hasn't started shooting yet. In fact, the script isn't even done and no other cast members beyond the main characters have been finalized. The teaser trailer simply said 2013, so even a Christmas release would still work, but I feel like we might not get this sequel until 2014, maybe in the spring. Stay tuned.
