Lionsgate & WWE Entertainment Cast 'Leprechaun' Remake Magic
You've gotta be kidding me. It's been nearly ten years since the last movie in the Leprechaun franchise, a comedic horror series about - you guessed it - an evil leprechaun that spawned a shocking six total films from 1993-2003. After the character went to Vegas, space, to the hood, and then Back 2 Tha Hood, I thought we'd seen the last of the murderous, rhyming, gold-obsessed mastermind. But somebody give Warwick Davis a call, because the series has been given new life thanks to Lionsgate and WWE Entertainment, who have teamed up to make this the first of a two-picture deal between the two companies.
Variety says the second movie in the Lionsgate/WWE deal hasn't been set yet, and the same can currently be said for a writer, director, and cast of the Leprechaun reboot (but those are minor details in Hollywood nowadays). So basically, right now there's no information out there about this project aside from it's happening and it's set for a 2013 release. But this announcement comes just in time for St. Patrick's Day this Saturday, and with networks like SyFy running marathons of the Leprechaun series all day for the holiday, you can bet this timing is no coincidence. The first movie, released way back in 1993, introduced audiences to a pre-"Friends" Jennifer Aniston, so maybe she'll appear in a cameo for the new one. Thoughts?
