Looks Like 'Anchorman 2' is Finally Happening with Ferrell & Apatow
"I'm in a glass case of emotion!" It's finally happening? Deadline is now reporting that "the sequel finally came together today" - Anchorman 2 is in active development, but at Judd Apatow's production company. Apparently it's still a Paramount production, as far as we can tell, but they now have Adam McKay (of the original Anchorman, Talladega Nights, Step Brothers and The Other Guys) set to write and direct. The script, which we've heard about before, was finished by McKay and Will Ferrell, who will return to star as Ron Burgundy, of course, along with Steve Carell and Paul Rudd from 04's Anchorman. Conan video below!
The news was confirmed by Ron Burgundy himself, as he appeared on the latest Conan taping today, jazz flute and all, to announce the good news. Here's a full video of his appearance as found by The Pixel Pulse:
I'm a huge fan of the original Anchorman movie, one of my all-time favorite comedies, and was open to the sequel. But we all watched them attempt to put it together, back in 2010, but the studio passed on it and the project went into production hell, stuck without going anywhere for a while. So somehow it now has the go-ahead, the greenlight, congrats. At least Apatow is involved, as he'll make sure it's everything it should be. I'm glad to hear this is return, just nervous about how it'll turn out, and what they're going to do with the story so it lives up to the original but doesn't get too crazy. Or maybe it needs to? Another newscaster fight? We'll have to find out. For now, details are sparse, besides what he says on Conan. "There will be a sequel."
