Mark of the Spider-Man - Viral Site for 'Amazing Spider-Man' Found

Mark of the Spider-Man

He's back! Now that everyone has been watching the second official trailer for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man over and over, we're all getting excited for the summer to come. I was watching the trailer in high def and at the end, noticed something very odd hidden quickly in the lower left of a frame, linking to an actual website. Spider-Man is getting a viral or ARG? Awesome! The phrase and website hidden is Mark of the Spider-Man, which I definitely think is the start of something bigger and I'm glad they're using the "mark" of the Spider-Man, because I'm loving the logos and spray-paint imagery from this movie (like this).

The words were found at around 2:28 into the new trailer in the lower left of the CG, which links to the site:

Mark of the Spider-Man

As of now there's nothing there on except some static video boxes and that Spider-Man logo that we've seen from the trailer and footage for The Amazing Spider-Man. I'm very excited to see where this goes and what goes on. Mark of the Spider, like the spray paintings on the wall in that shot from the trailer? I hope we get to see more of this for real, though I have no idea what this really is. We'll keep you updated and hope this leads somewhere, but for now check out the new viral site and rewatch the trailer to get fully up to speed on this new Spider-Man universe. I'm very excited for Marc Webb's new take with Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, I thought the footage looked awesome, and can't wait to see more!

the different static boxes are marked as "cities" in the html code

      No they aren't.....
      • mark of the spider-man
        Yes, they are.

I looked at the source code for the page and did not see them marked as cities, but it would make sense if they were. Maybe they will turn out to be webcams in six different cities leading to clues.

the last box (bottom right), show some patterns moving in the back if you look closely.. i've enlarged it and can see more clearly?, but still can make up what they are... give it a try and see if you can make up what it is

Hate virals. Just give me a solid trailer and a release date.
  • Rfuller2256
Found this in the source code..... "o=a.countdown._getDaysInMonth(l.getFullYear(),l.getMonth()),p=a.countdown._getDaysInMonth(m.getFullYear()" As well as the static videos being called newest noise 1-6

    WTF is a Viral?
  • correct me if i'm wrong, but in the lower left box, it looks like some sort of shape-shifting object. At one point (to me) it looks like a shape shifting face, and then an upside-down car and then, an atom structure? any input?
  • june
if you look closely, each box has a subtle pattern in it. whether it's an object or numbers is hard to tell. also, looking too close makes you feel a little queasy, so don't stare too long. i think it has something to do with the countdown of the film's release; each will probably reveal a gif of something related to spider-man the closer it gets to July.  all obviously centred around the "Mark". somehow...

if you press the spider man logo it leads to an exclusive clip
  • Tarikkindell
there is also a countdown that leads to the premiere of the movie
