Just last month, we learned that director Michael Apted was going to bring 56 Up - the latest installment of his Up series of documentaries - to theaters after the film had a premiere on TV in the United Kingdom. There have been seven installments chronicling a group of people who have been filmed every seven years, starting at 7-years old, and now the eighth installment is coming to New York at the beginning of the New Year and several other cities after that.. Don't worry if you haven't seen any of the previous films to watch this first trailer as it sets the stage very well for new viewers and longtime fans of the series. Watch below!
Here's the first trailer for Michael Apted's 56 Up from First Run Features (via The Playlist):
Starting in 1964 with Seven Up, The Up Series has explored this Jesuit maxim. The original concept was to interview 14 children from diverse backgrounds from all over England, asking them about their lives and their dreams for the future. Every seven years, renowned director Michael Apted, a researcher for Seven Up, has been back to talk to them, examining the progression of their lives. From cab driver Tony to schoolmates Jackie, Lynn and Susan and the heart-breaking Neil, 56-Up chronicles more life-changing decisions and surprising developments. The film hits NY January 4th. Other cities and dates right here.
