Star Trek Into Darkness

There was plenty to talk about after the announcement teaser for J.J. Abrams' anticipated sequel Star Trek Into Darkness hit the web, but that was just a taste of the glory to come. Just this past weekend, the 9-minute prologue played in front of select IMAX 3D screenings of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and now the full length trailer for the continuation of this rebooted sci-fi franchise is here, and damn is it epic. Benedict Cumberbatch is more than a force to be reckoned with, and it's great to see Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho & Anton Yelchin back in space. Watch now!

Here's the first full teaser trailer for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness, in high def via Apple:

For those who prefer Apple, here's an embed of the same trailer. "You think you're safe… you are not."

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated everything the fleet stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a "one man weapon of mass destruction."

Star Trek Into Darkness is the sequel to the J.J. Abrams-directed reboot of Gene Roddenberry's original science fiction series. The screenplay this time was co-written by Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman & Damon Lindelof. Most of the crew is back, including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin & John Cho. Paramount is bringing Into Darkness to theaters May 17th next summer.

Insert obligatory "Oh man did you hear BC say 'blah blah blah'! That clearly means he's playing Blah Blah!!!" Shut up. Awesome trailer though. Can't wait for this in theatres.

This looks awesome, I cannot wait to see it. I wonder what the significance of the upside down word 'FINISH' is at the end?
Chris Pine's face...what's going on there? // Trailer looked really good though. IT was very reminiscent of the original movie. Cumberbatch's character looks like a really good psychological villain. W00t!

He looks like a younger Michael Ironsides from Scanners.

hard core duck hunting, he was embodying his target...

Interesting that BC's villain is a 100% normal looking man. No scars, tattoos, props, weird hair styles, deformities, nothing.

Lol You sure picked one helluva a headline picture Ethan lol
  • TripleX
This reminded me of Loki and the Avengers.
  • Big Boss
Love the villain. I always like the "within" storylines where the good guys have to fight the bad guys that were formerly good, and they know all the ins and outs; their secrets. Movies like this, Skyfall, etc. Never gets old to me!

Saw "Hobbit" at midnight showing - and the ST trailer got some applause, and an excited hum from the audience. I'm looking forward to it; although I do wonder what Cumberbach's angle is.

Thanks for the plot review cause after watching that elsewhere I had no idea What the movie was about. Good action but I see very little plot but It's Abrams and I'm not sure why I expect that.
  • Lance
Was the Prologue in front of The Hobbit just for the opening weekend? I'm going today and really wanna see it. Thanks
    • It's in front of IMAX showings. I heard it was only on the digital IMAX theaters though.

i hope the story is as good as the amount of action being thrown into the film.

So did they basically just give away that it was Spock on the other side of the glass??? Anyone else notice the way the hand looked???
  • Never heard Benedict Cumberbatch speak. Is his voice really that menacing?

The youtube version has been banned! NOOOOOOO!!! Is there another site to look it up? (My adobe flashplayer doesn't work to watch the other video).
  • Akirakorn
Um. What's with all the base jumping in the new Trek movies? Is it gonna be a running theme, like with Craig's free-runnning bond?
  • Synok
Is Benedict Cumberbatch's character Spock's all human half-brother, pissed that his mom got all blowned up with Vulcan? "Is there anything you would not do for your family?"
  • LightningB
"and it's great to see Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho & Anton Yelchin back in space." So did Karl Urban piss you guys off or something?
  • SpaceBum
Can't wait to see this. I am a Trekkie from waaayyyy back. I use to watch TOS in it's original run with my dad. I enjoyed J.J. Abrams 2009 Trek. No, it wasn't the Trek I grew up with. But, I really enjoyed it. It's a Trek for a new generation. I love the uniform Kirk is wearing above (dress uniform maybe?) It's very reminiscent of the 1979 movie uniforms.

So I'm just says in the title this is the first full TEASER trailer for Star Trek, and it is shy of 2 minutes. So does that mean we have yet to see a first THEATRICAL trailer or is this trailer counting as the first?

      Jup! :)

    '13 is knocking on '82's door :)
  • MKultra
Got chills watching this fucking trailer!!!!!
  • I think the villains is brother of Spock the one who gets mostly all the human gen from the mother. and he want to revenge of him for letting his planet die.
