'Pan Am' Star Margot Robbie Lands a Lead in 'The Wolf of Wall Street'
Martin Scorsese's latest film has been casting guys left and right, but now it's all about the ladies. Just this week, actress Cristin Milioti was cast as Jordan Belfort's first wife, an Italian-American hairdresser who is unceremoniously dumped for another woman and destroyed by his lack of loyalty. Now Deadline reports that "Pan Am" star Margot Robbie will play the new love interest and female lead, Belfort's wife Nadine. The story follows Belfort (as played by Leonardo DiCaprio), a high-powered New York stockbrocker whose career spins out of control when he gets caught up in drugs, sex and greed in the 1990s. Robbie was one of the most enjoyable aspects of ABC's "Pan Am," the short-lived soap opera that followed various stewardesses through the skies during the 1960s. She hid her Australian accent remarkably well, but she isn't the only Wolf of Wall Street cast member with an accent. Oscar Winner Jean Dujardin just joined the cast, which also consists of Jonah Hill and Kyle Chandler. I'm guessing Robbie will hold her own just fine here, considering how she starred opposite bigger names like Christina Ricci and Mike Vogel in "Pan Am" and oftentimes overshadowed them. I'm glad to see her get a shot at the big time with Scorsese leading the charge, and with a role like this one, if she pulls it off she could be on a fast track for the A-list. You in?
