Prepare for Katy Perry to Come at You in 3D for a New Concert Film
After Paramount Pictures came up with the box office record holder for a concert film when Justin Bieber: Never Say Never in 3D grossed $73 million, it's surprising there wasn't in influx of more 3D concert films. However, maybe since the "Glee" concert movie didn't do all that well, it's just a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of success. Either way, Paramount is ready to gamble on a concert film all over again as THR has word that the studio is looking to put together a 3D concert film for the chart-topping pop singer and recent actress Katy Perry. However, no director is on board and no other details are available at this time. Read on!
It's likely that the film will follow the singer's Teenage Dream themed concert since that album has allowed Katy Perry to tie with the late, great Michael Jackson for having the most #1 singles of one singular album (and she could actually surpass The King of Pop this year). In addition, if you've seen the music video for songs like California Gurls (where the above picture comes from) or Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F), you know that the colorful, candy-coated sensibilities of the singer lend themselves perfectly to a 3D concert film. In addition, since Perry has certain assets that appeal to a larger male crowd, unlike Justin Bieber, there's a chance this could be an even bigger day at the box office for Paramount. Stay tuned.
