Robert De Niro Joins Michael Douglas' Bachelor Party in 'Last Vegas'?
Yesterday, we told you Michael Douglas is set to star in National Treasure director Jon Turteltaub's upcoming comedy Last Vegas. Apparently having one Academy Award-winner in the cast isn't enough for CBS Films, because Vulture is reporting the studio is in negotiations with Robert De Niro to co-star as one of the four geezers headed to Vegas to celebrate Douglas' bachelor party before he marries a much younger woman. De Niro would play Douglas' childhood friend, and since the two men had a history of falling for the same girl back in their younger days, a new set of problems arrises while they're in Sin City. More below!
Christopher Walken is also in talks for a part, so that would be a hell of a cast if they could pull all of these guys together. De Niro and Douglas are both legends in the business, and I think it's fair to say that any longtime movie fan would love to see them work together for the first time. Last Vegas sounds like a mixture of the forgotten Burt Reynolds and Richard Dreyfuss comedy The Crew and The Hangover, so we'll have to wait and see if screenwriter Dan Fogelman (the writer of the fantastic Crazy Stupid Love) can bring enough originality and wit to the story to let it stand on its own. Thoughts?
