Robert Pattinson Joins Carey Mulligan for 'Nancy and Danny' Thriller
Back in August we learned that An Education and Shame star Carey Mulligan (easily one of my favorite actresses right now) would star in Nancy and Danny, a romantic thriller from Indian Paintbrush, the company who made waves this summer with Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom. At the time, Man on Wire director James Marsh was going to be at the helm, and thankfully he's still attached, but has ditched the title in favor or Hold on to Me. In addition, THR has word that Robert Pattinson is joining the project, which should get some Twilight Saga tainted tween eyes in need of some film education to watch. Read on!
The story follows a money-hungry woman in a small town who has given up on her big city dreams. Therefore she decides to win over an old high school crush by using a hapless man as a pawn in a get-rich-quick scheme. But of course, it goes terribly wrong. The project is described as being similar to Gus Van Sant's 1995 film To Die For starring Nicole Kidman, and Mulligan actually sought the project out, so the script from Brad Inglesby (Out of the Furnace) must be pretty damn good. The film goes on sale at the American Film Market this month, so hopefully this caliber of talent will get it in front of a camera soon.
