Stephen Colbert Joins 'Mr. Peabody & Sherman' Now Hitting in 2013
Though we're used to seeing Stephen Colbert wielding the weapon of satire on Comedy Central, sometimes the actor has time for a few other film and TV roles. Though he's made some brief live-action appearances in films like Bewitched and The Love Guru, it's his voiceover work in animated projects that's more impressive and consistent. From "The Venture Bros." to Monsters vs. Aliens, Colbert's voice is like magic, and we're going to hear it on the big screen again as THR reports he'll be lending his voice to Mr. Peabody and Sherman, the DreamWorks Animation adaptation of the "Rocky & Bullwinkle" cartoon.
We just got our first official look at the title characters voiced by Ty Burrell ("Modern Family") and Max Charles (The Amazing Spider-Man) respectively, and now the supporting cast around them is being lined up. Colbert will voice Paul Peterson, Mr. Peabody's arch nemesis. In addition, Allison Janney has been cast as his wife Paula Peterson and Ariel Winter (who plays the youngest daughter Alex on "Modern Family") will play their bullying daughter Penny Peterson. Winter has become known for her role on the ABC comedy with Ty Burrell, but she has an array of voicework in her past including Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and "Phineas and Ferb." They'll also be joined by Ellie Kemper (Bridesmaids) and character actor Stephen Tobolowsky in unknown roles. The Lion King director Rob Minkoff is at the helm, and I can't wait to see what he does with this project which has been bumped up to November 8, 2013.
