Terrence Howard Joins Hugh Jackman & Impressive Cast of 'Prisoners'
by Ben Pearson
December 7, 2012
Ever since Hugh Jackman finally signed on to lead the cast of the crime thriller Prisoners this March after circling the role back in 2009, the film has been picking up great actors left and right to fill out its cast. Melissa Leo, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Paul Dano have already jumped on board, and now Deadline reports that Iron Man star Terrence Howard is the latest big time player to sign on the dotted line. Denis Villeneuve, the Oscar-nominated helmer who directed the acclaimed family drama Incendies, is directing this movie with a script from Aaron Guzikowski (Contraband) that made the Black List a few years back.
The story follows a small town carpenter (Jackman) who takes the law into his own hands when the local police can't find his kidnapped daughter and her best friend. Jackman's character runs into a problem when a hot shot cop (Gyllenhaal) is sent in to take on the case, and he doesn't appreciate his investigation being interfered with. Since the last time we've updated you on this project, Maria Bello has joined the film as Jackman's wife and Oscar nominee Viola Davis signed on as well. Details aren't available as to what roles Davis and Howard will play here, but Prisoners is quietly building one of the best ensemble casts of 2013. Production starts early next year, and we're hoping this one lives up to the hype.
