'The Devil's Double' Dominic Cooper Gets in Gear for 'Need for Speed'
After playing the patriarch of Tony Stark in Captain America: The First Avenger and taking on the horror historical remix Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, actor Dominic Cooper is taking on a high speed role. Variety has word that Cooper will step on the gas for DreamWorks' adaptation of the video game series Need for Speed. Director of Scott Waugh (Act of Valor) is at the helm of the film with Aaron Paul ("Breaking Bad") and Imogen Poots taking lead roles. The film follows an underground racecar driver (Paul) who owns a garage that modifies expensive cars to make them faster for racing. But then stuff gets real.
Framed and sent to prison when his best friend is murdered during a race, the garage owner seeks revenge upon his release. Sounds like your typical action thriller but hopefully the addition of a talent like Paul will up the ante and make it better than Fast & Furious. As for Cooper's role, he'll play the other male lead, a character named Dino, an ex-NASCAR driver who uses his connections to the wealthy to create a business rebuilding and modifying supercars. Meanwhile, Poots will play an exotic car dealer who does business with Paul and Cooper. Sounds like the cars will be just as much the stars of the film as the actors, but that much is to be expected from a film called Need for Speed, arriving on February 7th, 2014.
