Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to Host 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards

October 15, 2012

Tina Fey / Amy Poehler

Though there was dissension amongst comedy connoisseurs when Seth MacFarlane was announced to host the 85th Annual Academy Awards, there should be little to no whining with the news from NBC announcing the dynamic duo serving as masters of ceremonies of the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Or should we say mistresses of ceremonies. The network is giving the job to their comedy series stars and "Saturday Night Live" veterans Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. This is great news as each of these ladies always brings some sort of highlight to awards shows as presenters, especially when they are nominated. More below!

Poehler recently pulled a great stunt when Julia Louis-Dreyfus won an Emmy over her as Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and pretended to mix up her speech with the "Parks and Recreation" star (watch that great moment right here). Meanwhile, Fey is always a delight whether she's paired with the likes of Steve Carell or Jon Hamm. Combine that with the fact that when these two comediennes get together, as evidenced on "SNL" and Baby Mama, it's comedy gold. For those who didn't enjoy the edge of Ricky Gervais, this should be a nice change. The 70th Annual Golden Globes air live January 13th at 8pm EST/5pm PST on NBC.

Ugh. Lots of comments about which movie stars they want to do, and comments about women in showbiz. Nails on a chalkboard.
  • Cool! I love both :)

Can they top Ricky? Can anyone? We'll see. My whole life has been leading up to MacFarlane at the Academy Awards, though. I doubt they'll top that. For me, anyways.
