Tom Hiddeston to Play Porn Baron Paul Raymond in 'King of Soho'?

If you were watching The Avengers and thought to yourself that Tom Hiddleston, the man playing the mischievous Loki, would have been much better served overseeing a porn dynasty rather than an army of aliens destroying Manhattan, then you are in luck. The Daily Mail has word from Howard Raymond, son of porn baron Paul Raymond, the man behind soft-porn magazines like Men Only, Escort, Club International, Mayfair and more, that Hiddleston has been lined up to play the entrepreneur in a film called The King of Soho, based on a book that Howard Raymond wrote himself, but apparently isn't published yet. Read on!

There's a competing project of the same name with The Trip and The Killer Inside Me director Michael Winterbottom at the helm and Steve Coogan playing the title role with Anna Friel and Imogen Poots in the supporting cast, and Howard has actually called his lawyers to pounce on that project. Now with Hiddleston potentially being involved in his own film, he might come out on top. The younger Raymond says, "‘You can’t imagine how delighted I am by this; chuffed to bits. We’ve waited a long time to get the right person and in Tom we finally have. It’s a difficult role, not because he is playing my father but because he is in every scene in the film." Howard hopes to begin production within the next year, but we'll see if he actually gets the project off the ground. I hope so if only to see Hiddleston in a larger-than-life role based on real life.
