Watch: Earth's Mightiest Heroes United in New 'Avengers' Featurette

"There was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable people..." This summer Earth's mightiest heroes unite as The Avengers, and this combination of superheroes is an unprecedented event with six films preceding it, complete with story continuity and plot bridges. Of course, everyone overseas is just as thrilled with this assembly of heroes as we are here in the US. However, in the UK, due to the presence of another popular series also called "The Avengers" (which also has a feature film adaptation), the film is called Avengers Assemble, and they've revealed a short featurette to keep the hype going strong. Watch it!

Here's the new featurette for Joss Whedon's The Avengers from Total Film:

When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. The star studded cast includes Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders, as well as Tom Hiddleston and Stellan Skarsgård who are reprising their respective roles from Thor. Marvel's The Avengers, directed by Joss Whedon (Serenity), hits theaters everywhere May 4th, 2012.   Agreed. Its nice that they keep keeping us fans stoked for the film with featurettes, but in this case, pieces of the film we've already seen so they're not showing us more clips of the film.

  Yeah...I'm not super unhappy about it. It's like getting sexually teased by the girl you've always wanted and it never progresses past 2nd base. You still want her badly, but can't you just try a little of the tip, just for a minute, just to see what it feels like?

Hawkeye's plastic bow FTW! Looks quite good for a straigh-to-dvd film.

hawkeye is a joke. lol. same with black widow.. lol. Of course I am sure everyone will go see it as will I. But I don't expect it to be any good. probably a 6/10 at best.

I really like the first 2-3 trailers where they showed only fast paced action, now that they show some dialogue, damn, it looks so cheesy and immature...I really had high hopes for this movie

At first when I read the title and then saw the picture underneath it, I thought it was a funny gag of Capt looking up at Optimus, haha.
