Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Up until now, the trailers for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter haven't impressed me. We'll toss it up to a difference in taste and perceptions of the story itself, but so far I've yet to see anything from the film that doesn't make the concept look completely ridiculous whereas many people who have read the book adamantly say it's supposed to be taken seriously. Somehow there are people who think it looks silly, and love that, while others actually believe the dark, dramatic tone. Either way, a new feauturette with Tim Burton, Timur Bekmambetov and Seth Grahame-Smith is the first time I've been intrigued. Watch!

Here's the new featurette for Timur Bekmambetov's Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter from Apple:

President Lincoln's mother is killed by a supernatural creature, fueling his passion to crush vampires and their slave-owning helpers. A cross between D.W. Griffith's Abraham Lincoln & F. W. Murnau's Nosferatu.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is directed by Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov, director of the Night/Day Watch series, Irony of Fate 2, and Wanted previously. An adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's mash-up novel of the same name, it was adapted by writers Seth Grahame-Smith & Simon Kinberg (of xXx: State of the Union, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, X-Men: The Last Stand, Jumper, This Means War). 20th Century Fox is bringing Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter to theaters in 3D starting June 22, 2012 this summer.

I am in on this one as well. As long as the writing and dialogue is good, it looks to have a lot of potential and be an entertaining flick.

Thought that was a photo of Liam Neeson for half a second.

It mentioned the word superhero 3 times right? Batman twice? Utility belt and costume also? Are they desperately trying to hook in some comic nerds? - I'm sure it will be a good movie, but it must be a nightmare to market films these days if you have just say 'it's a superhero movie' to sell it.

    Pass, maybe a rent someday.
