Watch: Newest Trailer for Darren Bousman's 'Mother's Day' Remake

Mother's Day

Last year, director Darren Lynn Bousman had his timely horror film 11-11-11 chased out of theaters just as quickly as it came by bigger releases like The Immortals and Jack & Jill (though I can't imagine the film being much worse than either of them). Now Bousman is back with a film that showed up at Fantastic Fest back in September of 2010, and the first trailer for the horror thriller Mother's Day, a remake of Charles Kaufman's 1980 film of the same name. Rebecca DeMornay is rocking the cradle again as the "mother" of a villainous family returning to their childhood home to terrorize the new home owners and their guests.

Here's the first trailer for Darren Lynn Bousman's remake of Mother's Day via Yahoo! Movies:

Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III and IV, Repo! The Genetic Opera) directs this remake of Mother's Day, the 1980 film by Charles Kaufman, with a script coming from Scott Milam. Three brothers on the run from the law head for home, only to discover that their mother (Rebecca DeMornay) lost the house in a foreclosure. Mother ingeniously orchestrates her sons' escape, teaching the house's new owners and their guests a few lessons along the way. The film is slated to hit limited theaters on May 4th. Looking good?

Against the avengers? He sucks at picking release dates.
    • It's a very limited release movie, and it will be on Blu-Ray, DVD and VOD May 8th, so I don't think they're looking for big box office gross at the theaters.

Someone should make a meme: Surrounded by psycho killers. Bolt for out-of-reach stairs.

If it's anything like his last effort, 11-11-11, it's gonna blow chunks.
  • This looks bad...

Trying to figure out how this is a remake of that 1980 classic.  Hell's Bells, there isn't even a scene where one of the sons is forced to drink Drano!

Caught it on DVD in South Africa a few months ago, and it's a terrible film - an overpopulated, underwritten ridiculous mess. Avoid.

I agree with Brett. This article took me by surprise considering I saw this via Kick Ass Torrents like at least 8 months ago. The original is much more fun to watch.

I've had this movie on dvd for about a year now. It's one of the better, more realistic home invasion movies to come out in awhile...
