Watch: Gael Garcia Bernal in Indie Romance 'The Loneliest Planet'
We've seen plenty of tales of man versus nature, but in this case, it's a journey through nature that threatens to destroy love in The Loneliest Planet. The indie has been making the festival rounds for a little while and now the first trailer has arrived. The film follows a young engaged couple (Gael Garcia Bernal and Hani Furstenberg) on the summer before their wedding as they backpack in the Caucasus Mountains in Georgia. While the landscape is gorgeous and they enjoy their time together, something comes up that changes everything, and threatens to undo everything the couple believed about each other and themselves.
Here's the first trailer for Julia Loktev's The Loneliest Planet originally from Apple:
Alex (Gael Garcia Bernal) and Nica (Hani Furstenberg) are young, in love and engaged. The summer before their wedding, they are backpacking in the Caucasus Mountains in Georgia. The couple hire a local guide to lead them on a camping trek, and the three set off into a stunning wilderness, a landscape that is both overwhelmingly open and frighteningly closed. Walking for hours, they trade anecdotes, play games to pass the time of moving through space. But a tragic misstep could mean the end of the couple's loving relationship. Julia Loktev (Day Night Day Night) directs the film which hits theaters on October 26th.
