Watch: Gorgeous Full Length Trailer for Blue Sky Animation's 'Epic'

"We are the Leafmen, protectors of the forest." The first trailer for Blue Sky Animation's Epic (once known as The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs, or just Leafmen) used a Snow Patrol song to great effect with some beautiful animation, and now we get a better idea of the story in this animated, well, epic. Honestly, there are some shots here that are breathtaking, but I'm not sure how the sillier dialogue will play along with it. I like Aziz Ansari as a slug, basically a makeshift Donkey from Shrek, but I'm not sure that kind of character fits in a film like this. We'll find out when the film arrives next summer, I guess. A teenager finds herself transported to a deep forest setting where a battle between the forces of good and evil rages on. She bands together with a rag-tag group characters in order to save their world -- and ours.

Epic is based on William Joyce's children's book known as The Leaf Men, being directed by Chris Wedge (who previously directed the first Ice Age and Robots for Blue Sky, plus voices Scrat, too). The voice cast includes Josh Hutcherson as Nod, Amanda Seyfried as Mary Katherine, Beyoncé Knowles, Johnny Knoxville, Aziz Ansari, Jason Sudeikis, Pitbull, Steven Tyler & Judah Friedlander. 20th Century Fox will be bringing Blue Sky's Epic to theaters in 3D starting May 24th, 2013 next summer.
