Cockneys vs Zombies Trailer

"Abercrombie & Zombie!" Nothing like a bit of bloody, gory, violent zombie fun to start the week. This new red band trailer for British zombie-comedy Cockneys vs Zombies first debuted last week (via EW), but we thought it was good enough to still feature. Matthias Hoene directs this London-set zombie flick, which reminds me a lot of Shaun of the Dead, but with its own perks. It's basically about a group of amateur bank robbers and foul-mouthed geriatrics who have to fight their way through a bunch of London undead. And I think that's Alan Ford, aka Brick Top from Snatch, being quite the badass. Looks like a bloody lot of fun!

Here's the red band trailer for Matthias Hoene's Cockneys vs Zombies, from IGN via TheMovieBox:

This city ain't big enough for the both of ’em! A few London east-enders fight their way out of a zombie-infested downtown, led by an unlikely gang of amateur bank robbers and foul-mouthed plucky pensioners.

Cockneys vs Zombies was directed by British filmmaker Matthias Hoene (@matthiashoene), of commercials and a film titled Beyond the Rave previously. The screenplay is by James Moran (Severance, "Torchwood", Tower Block) and Lucas Roche (editor on Beyond the Rave). This will first premiere at Film4's FrightFest. Cockneys vs Zombies hits UK theaters in August, and will play at Fantastic Fest in the US this September.

Another fun looking zombie film from our british friends. I'm sold! The boss from Snatch is in it as well. x2 reasons alone to see it.

wasn't this genre kind of handled already by Shaun of the Dead?

Mike on Aug 6, 2012

Yes. And only one movie can be made per genre now. It's the law.

"Shaun of the Dead" meets "Attack the Block" with a bit of the old people from "Hot Fuzz". Meh, could be fun, could be extremely derivative with all the funny bits in the trailer.

Brick Top vs zombies? Yes please!

Looks kinda fun, but I hope they make the whole "zombies are super-slow" act work. It'll probably be funny at first to watch the old guy outrun the zombie, but zombie movies also work because there's a chance they can actually get the characters.

I'm in.

zombies, werewolves & vampires have become so hideously boring but this looks absolutely hilarious....definately in for this one...

Something tells me the black guy dies. That being said, this looks hilarious.

A trailer hasn't made me laugh like that in a while, definitely wanna check this out.

Too bad that they wouldn't know how to use the guns. Sincerely, The United States

All looks like a bit of a one-note-joke but Richard Briers is a living legend so I'm kind of tempted.
